New anti flea product is a winner

Oh, how things change. And sometimes they don't stay the same. We

all know that and as we get older it gets more difficult to adjust

to the changes. I have been associated with the veterinary field

now for some 20 years and have seen new diseases, procedures, treatments

and medicines come out with mind boggling speed. Someone just the

other day asked me what single procedure, treatment or product would

I consider to be the most revolutionary since I entered veterinary

medicine. It actually didn't take long to declare a winner. A winner

which I see daily with my own 2 eyes.
 

The most revolutionary change in my eyes in the last 20 years is a

product called Topspot. It is topical liquid drops in a small tube

that when applied between the shoulder blades once monthly, kills

fleas like nothing I've ever seen before. It is literally changing

the way veterinarians practice medicine. Clients are the ones who

are convincing me. Simply stated, their flea problems are gone.
 
 
 

Simple to apply
 

Once monthly you apply a small amount of pre measured liquid in a tube

to the skin between the shoulder blades, cats or dogs. You don't wipe,

comb, brush or manipulate the liquid or hair coat afterwards. You

are done. It takes about 5 seconds. The Topspot does the rest.

Over the next 36-48 hours, the Topspot dissolves into the oil layer

of the animals skin and spreads itself over the entire animal. It

deposits itself in the oil glands and hair follicles it is not taken

up systemically. It stays on the skin. For the next 30 days (and

usually longer in some dogs), Topspot continually kills fleas upon

contact they don't have to bite to die. This is a real blessing to

flea allergic dogs and cats.
 

Wide Safety Margin
 

Topspot is extremely safe with a wide margin of safety (we've had no

adverse reactions noted at our clinic.) It is not deactivated in

sunlight or swimming. Bathing is allowed 48 hours after application

to allow for migration of the product through the oil layer of the

coat. Bathing washes off the topical Topspot, but as the animal re-oils

itself over the next 2-3 days, the Topspot which is already in the

oil glands, reapplies itself.
 

The insecticide found in Topspot is unlike any commercial insecticide

which has ever been used before. Up until a couple years ago, our

hands were tied. We were left with only general insecticides which

we tried to give at a high enough dosage to kill fleas, but a low

enough dosage not to kill the pet.
